Paddling Algonquin Park!

January 17, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Join Kevin Clute, a Park Naturalist with The Friends of Algonquin Park, to explore Ontario’s oldest and best-known provincial park. Covering more land area than some small countries or even a Canadian province, Algonquin Park is home to a combination of over 2,000 kilometres of canoe routes, over 1,500 backcountry campsites, more than a thousand waterbodies, resulting in countless opportunities to develop your next paddling adventure. A distinguished canoe tripping location, Algonquin Park attracts nearly a million visitors a year with about one-quarter heading into the Park’s backcountry. Through this presentation, discover why people from around the world are passionate about Algonquin Park, plus learn how to plan a backcountry canoe trip that matches your particular skill level. Whether an Algonquin Park expert or a first-time visitor, this presentation will share tips to make your extended backcountry excursion, or a day trip, the best it can be in Algonquin Park.

Kevin Clute is on staff with The Friends of Algonquin Park, a Canadian registered charity, non-profit, and non-governmental organization established in 1983 for people passionate about Algonquin Park. The Friends operates retail locations, recruits members, and fundraises to support the natural and cultural educational goals of Algonquin Park. Through his work as Group Education Program Coordinator and Special Projects Leader, Kevin develops, arranges, and conducts programs for a wide range of visitors who want to experience Algonquin Park. Kevin is involved with programs and projects that educate thousands of visitors about the complexities of Algonquin Park annually. Whether leading canoeing excursions during his work time, or canoeing with family and friends, Kevin is an avid canoe tripper who has explored extensive amounts of Algonquin Park and is passionate about sharing Algonquin Park with others.
